Fishermen in Saurashtra region of western India, located on the Arabian Sea coast of Gujarat state are reaping rich dividends as the production of lobster fish has augmented in 2007. In the first quarter of 2007-08, the country's seafood exports were to the tune of 94059 tones valued at rupees 1430.91 crores as compared to 6, 12,641 tonnes in 2006-07.
New look Dhoni returns home
Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was warmly greeted on Wednesday on his arrival at Ranchi for the first time after leading India to victory in the Twenty20 World Cup. Scores of locals gathered outside to catch a glimpse of their hero. Ex-CM's son and 16 others killed in Naxal attack

Seventeen people were killed by armed Naxalites in Jharkhand's Giridih district. Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi's son was among them.
The band of armed Naxalites struck in the course of a local tribal festival's celebrations in Chilkhadi village, about 290 Km from Ranchi.
Marandi's younger son, Anupam, was killed in the attack.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arun Kumar Singh said that about 30 Naxalites had mingled with the crowd during the cultural programme organised by Babulal Marandi's brother, Nunulal. At around 1 AM, they suddenly opened fire indiscriminately and exploded bombs.

Investigators in the Philippines say military-grade explosives behind mall blast.
The blast occurred at lunchtime on Friday in Manilla's upmarket Glorietta Mall. It killed nine people and wounded 113. Police have confirmed that military-grade explosives caused the powerful blast. Eight people were confirmed dead on Friday and the body of a man was found early on Saturday in the debris, One person is still missing.

Blasts hit Bhutto's rally in Karachi, 164 killed

Former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto had arrived to a joyous welcome in Karachi on Thursday afternoon after eight years in exile. But tears of relief and joy soon turned into shock at the mammoth tragedy that followed hours after.
Bhutto was on her way to a party meeting in Karachi, greeting thousands of supporters who had gathered to welcome her, when two bombs went off right next to her convoy, killing more than 160 people and injuring hundreds others.
The former Pakistan prime minister could have also been hurt or killed, had she not stepped inside the armoured vehicle for a while.
Pakistan People’s Party workers and police confirmed Bhutto, was unhurt. She was rushed from the site of the blasts to her home, Bilawal House, soon after the explosions, the party spokesman Farhatullah Babar said.
Police Chief Azhar Farooqi told Dawn News that Bhutto was rushed from the area under contingency plans. ''She was evacuated very safely and is now in Bilawal House,'' Farooqi said.
Chiranjeevi's daughter elopes, gets married filmi style
It was as real as reality television can get when Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's daughter Shreeja got married to her friend Shirish Bharadwaj at an Arya Samaj Temple in Hyderabad on Wednesday morning right in front of TV cameras.
And all this was happening without her father Chiranjeevi's knowledge or consent.
If that wasn't dramatic enough Shreeja even alleged that her parents, who were against her love affair with Sirish, had put her under virtual house arrest for the past one year.
“I thank the police and the media. Both my father and my mother were against this marriage,” Shreeja said.
Nineteen-year-old Shreeja who also raised concerns that her family may try to threaten the couple for marrying without their consent requested the media and police to support her.

Aishwarya to play Bipasha’s mom in a Hollywood flick
COLLECTED BY: RISHI KAPOORBipasha Basu is set to foray into Hollywood with a phenomenal role offered to her by Ben Kinglsey. Her first international project will be a Mughal historical featuring Aishwarya Rai who in fact plays her mother in the film.
Bipasha will play Jahanara Begum in the film—that’s Mumtaz Mahal's (Aishwarya Rai) devoted daughter. “It’s a very special character that Ben has asked me to play. We've already spoken about it, and now we need to work out the dates,” Bipasha reveals.
“The movie is on the building of the Taj Mahal,” said Kingsley, who is producing the film. “The romance will also include Shah Jahan's isolation for years in a prison cell.”
Kingsley said his production house was currently working with a scriptwriter on the project.
He said Rai agreed to do the movie when he spoke to her during the filming of The Last Legion- a Hollywood epic about the Roman Empire.In his latest movie, You Kill Me, Kingsley played a hit man being rehabilitated for alcoholism.
