Predominantly sedentary and unhealthy lifestyles take their toll on a large part of the urban population. According to a study by Price water house Coopers, lifestyle or chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer and AIDS would account for over 65% of deaths in India in the coming years as compared to 53% in 2005.
The study further reveals that deaths from lifestyle related diseases would increase by 77% between 1990 and 2020.
