Says his father, Ajay Singh, "He was harassed, he was stripped and he lost his mental balance."
A resident of Bareilly, Sanjay had recently come to Lucknow. The private hostel he stayed in had students from a number of different colleges.
Sanjay was constantly harassed and threatened by the others. He turned violent, developed an acute fear psychosis and had to be hospitalised.
Says his local guardian, Sudhakar Singh, "He was issued all sorts of threats by other students."
Adds SSP Lucknow, Akhil Kumar, "The police have registered an FIR against three of Sanjay's hostel mates."
Sanjay's condition is now improving but he is in no state to go back to his studies.
It has been more than six years since the Supreme Court set strict guidelines to check the menace of ragging. The time has come when firm action must be taken not only against the students who indulge in ragging but also against the authorities who fail to prevent such ugly incidents.

UMA KHURANA: I want to start my normal life once again.
BLOGGER: What is this normal life that you are talking about?
Uma Khurana: My home, my family, my kids, my job and my school - I want to start my normal routine life.
BLOGGER: The character assassination that has already been done how do you assess the situation right now?
Uma Khurana: God will do everything. There has been no such problem in my past 20-year’s job life. I have a very good track record. I hope looking into all this the Delhi government will give justice in my favour. I am hundred per cent sure about it.
BLOGGER:Why the person has targeted you what is the reason behind that?
Uma Khurana I cant say why he was making me target what was the motive behind that. But yes there was a great conspiracy behind this to kill me. The whole episode was shown on TV when I was in class thinking that people can attack me and can kill me.
BLOGGER:Do you want to sue the TV channel?
Uma Khurana: Yes I want to sue the media but not against the Delhi government. I want to take action against the channel that has defamed me and demoralised me.

Here's the text that Ramu says changed his opinion on his right to remake his favourite film. (Parts of the message have been revised for coherence).
"Hi Sir. To call Aag a piece of junk would be demeaning junk. What happened to the colours of Rangeela and the grit of Satya? No clear story, meaningless script, obsession with dark lighting, weak screenplay, and songs that are too high-pitched and outdated. You were in a hurry while shooting. Fast editing, nonsensical expressions, no romance, horrifying background music and choreography, cinematography is horrid, bad clothes, bad hoardings, bad amateurish dialogues, bad characterizations with no emotional graph for the characters, leaving the actors free to ham, outdated action, emotionless scenes, no comedy, no colour. You should sit and watch your film alone. No freshness, carelessness in creativity. You've become over-confident and you are losing touch with reality. You're handing over creative work to the wrong people. You're impulsively doing ten films at a time and not focusing on one project. You've enjoyed the shooting without caring about what the outcome would be. You're busy giving stupid interviews. What have you done in the past seven years except a couple of notable films?"
Says Ramu, "The above message shook me completely. It made me realize it's time for me to do some serious re-thinking about my career."

Of the total advertising spend in India the radio industry’s share is about 2 per cent. This share is expected to rise substantially over the next ten years, going by the explosive growth in the ad inventory and the wide reach, especially the lower segment markets that the radio industry can now offer.
Based on these factors, coupled with other regulatory corrections such as migration to a revenue-share regime and allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) up to 20 per cent, the sector is emerging for tremendous growth over the coming years.
SACHIN TENDULKAR will take over as the skipper of both the Test and the One-Day team. According to sources, the selection committee has already spoken to Tendulkar and the Little Master has agreed to lead the Indian team although he will take another two days to give his final word.
Tendulkar has told the selection committee that he is willing to lead the Test and One-Day team once again but he should be appointed the captain on a series to series basis.
India Twenty20 skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be Tendulkar's deputy in both the teams, the sources added.
The post of the Indian Test and One-Day skipper fell vacant after Rahul Dravid decided to call it quits.
In a press release issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, Dravid was quoted as saying that he now "wanted to concentrate on his game and did not want to take the additional pressure of leading the side".
Dravid had already spoken to the BCCI President Sharad Pawar on Thursday in New Delhi about his decision to step down.
The selection committee will meet on September 18 to name the team for the upcoming One-Day series against Australia and are also expected to formally announce Tendulkar's appointment as the skipper of the team.
Tendulkar has led the Indian team twice in the past and was not very successful but the thinking in the BCCI and the selection committee is that given the turmoil that Indian cricket finds itself after Dravid's 'I Quit' call, only a senior and experienced hand should be given the responsibility.
Tendulkar has already led India in 25 Tests winning four, drawing nine and losing 12. In the ODIs, too, he does not have a great captaincy record.
Out of the 73 matches that Tendulkar led India in, the team lost 43, winning 23 other matches while six ended without a result with one tie.

The Centre had on Friday withdrawn two affidavits from the Supreme Court, including the one which said there was no scientific evidence to establish the existence of Lord Ram and the Ramar Setu.
The government also suspended two senior ASI officials, including a director and an assistant director, over the controversy.
Within the Congress, hard politicking is on and Soni could just become the scapegoat if the party needs. Her ministerial colleague Jairam Ramesh indicated that he would want her to resign.
"I cannot speak on behalf of Ambika Soni who is a senior colleague and a good friend of mine. But had I been a Cabinet Minister and had this happened, I would
Soni says her ministry was not responsible for the contentious affidavit that proclaimed Lord Ram to be a myth. She, however, she's ready to accept the responsibility and make the 'ultimate sacrifice' (read, resign) if the Prime Minister and the party high command want her to do so
At the same time, Soni reiterates that an amendment made by her ministry had not been incorporated in the affidavit.
Soni, in fact, claims that the Culture Ministry was not responsible for the controversial affidavit on the Ram Setu, which the government had submitted in the Supreme Court earlier this week, sparking off huge protests from the BJP and various Hindu organisations.
Speaking at a press conference, she said the draft of the affidavit came from the Additional Solicitor General and she had made three amendments to it. One of these amendments was not incorporated. The ASI did not prepare the affidavit, she claims.
"A major amendment, which we wanted in place of a line which could cause problems, was left intact in the counter-affidavit which was filed before the court, which we feel is a gross negligence and cannot be overlooked," Soni said on Saturday.
She also said that she would resign if the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi want her to do so. "I have sent all the papers to the Prime Minister. If he thinks I should resign, I will do so immediately," she said.
