TV news reporter commits suicide

A 24-year-old reporter from a television news channel committed suicide on Wednesday evening in her Noida residence.

Priya Singh was found hanging from the ceiling with her duppata at her Sector 19 home.

In her suicide note, she has accused two seniors in the channel of exploiting and sidelining her. A reporter on the crime beat, Priya hails from Patna and occasionally anchored news bulletins too.

“Two people - Tapan Bharti and Umesh Joshi – she holds them responsible in her suicide note,” said Superintendent of Police, Paresh Pandey.

While Bharti is the channel’s output editor, Joshi is a producer. According to agency reports, police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against them.She had joined the TV channel a year ago, and her friend Tanuja, a software engineer, shared her flat with her.
