How to Be a Model

COLLECTED BY: RISHI KAPOOR

Fancy yourself a glamourous career?

Think you have a pretty face and a great body too?

Well, a career in ramp modelling could be just for you!

With the rise of the Indian supermodel - from Madhu Sapre and Mehr Jessia to Ujwala Raut - modelling is attracting the young, and old alike. However, contrary to popular belief modelling is not quite the cakewalk is appears to be!

Wow Factor

Modelling is all about visual appeal. So to be a successful model, you need to be visually appealing, quite literally! You can be young or old, thin or fat, but you must be presentable. Groom yourself to become a model.

Getting Started

Do you want to walk the ramp or do you want to make a career as a print or television model? Identify your strengths and weaknesses.

Remember to be realistic because you may be the most pretty looking woman in your peer group, but that does not automatically qualify you to be a ramp scorcher. Ramp models have to be at least 5 feet 6 inches tall! So if you are short, your face can launch products instead.

You can be a hand model or hair model or simply be the 'legs' for a new shoe commercial. Have a great set of teeth and a winning smile? You could be just perfect for new toothpaste commercial. The possibilities are infinite!

Model Material As a successful model, be assured of raking in the moolah and living the good life. Depending on the kind of work you do, you can earn anywhere between Rs.5000 upwards per assignment.

The more successful and established models today demand as much as Rs.40000 to Rs.50000 per show
